Intentful, a content creation company that leverages data and AI to help businesses create relevant content matched to customer intent, announced the launch of the DEI in AI initiative.
NEW YORK, NY, August 26, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ — Thanks to advances in machine learning and AI, the world is now entering a phase where AI capabilities will be available and widely used by businesses in many industries: e-commerce, ticket sales, publishing, media, marketing, customer service, healthcare, finance, logistics, and more.
Natural language models have been trained on the world’s knowledge, with some content in the training data going back as far as centuries. While more recent content is also available in the data set, there are multiple biases “inherited” from previous generations – a reflection of the majority in the historical data – creating a risk that the product created with the help of AI may be biased against women, people of color, and other groups. Given the scale and speed of AI deployment, this can have large-scale effects.
The goal of Intentful’s DEI in AI initiative is to create a set of resources to help anyone working with AI identify potential bias in content and flag it to businesses and individuals using AI in their work. The DEI dictionary – a list of terms that are connected to different types of bias – will be available for anyone for free on the internet through Github and other channels.
“As a company that is advancing new ways of creating content with the help of data and AI, we are committed to building a more inclusive world through content. We are grateful for the partnership of Chanelle Cotton, Marketing Communications Manager at The Shubert Organization. Chanelle moderated a ‘Forward Together’ panel discussion during The 2022 Broadway Spring Road Conference, and her call to action in the closing remarks was one of the inspirations for the launch of DEI in AI.” — Marina Petrova, CEO of Intentful.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to help shape this project. This is an important first step in ensuring that the content created with the help of modern tools and technologies is representative of all voices and perspectives. As someone who works in the arts and entertainment industry, I’m particularly interested in how this can help create more inclusive and diverse content for the stage and screen. I look forward to seeing how this grows and develops over time,” added Chanelle Cotton.
Intentful welcomes collaboration from all interested in the areas of building out the dictionary and creating awareness about the project.
