Source One, a Corcentric company, reflect on 2018 and share predictions for the future of supply management in their newest whitepaper.
WILLOW GROVE, PA, December 28, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ — The supply management experts at Source One have published their predictions for the future of supply management in their new whitepaper, Procurement in 2019. Continuing the consultancy’s annual tradition, Source One’s Procurement experts reflect on the last twelve months and set their sights on the year ahead.
“2018 was an eventful year for all of us at Source One,” says VP of Professional Services Joseph Payne. “Unfortunately, for many Procurement professionals the year was notable for all the wrong reasons. Escalating tariffs, extreme weather, and a number of other issues forced businesses to act fast. We hope this year’s predictions can provide readers with a sense of security. We don’t dance around the issues facing Supply Chain Managers, but we advocate for a careful and strategic approach and offer best practices to organizations looking to stay ahead of the unexpected.”
Among the challenges addressed in the new whitepaper is Procurement’s ever-widening talent gap. While Source One addressed the skills shortage in broad terms last year, they take a more targeted approach this time. Procurement teams, they suggest, are lacking when it comes to Cyber Security and Data Science skills. They expect organizations will move to close these gaps by creating new positions, reconfiguring their training programs, and searching for talent in unexpected places.
Source One, a recent winner of Supply and Demand Chain Executive’s Green Supply Chain Award, also expects the Procurement function to redouble its efforts to promote sustainability. “The move toward more sustainable business practices is nothing new,” remarks VP of Operations William Dorn. “What is new, at least relatively speaking, is the idea that Procurement should take an active in promoting this shift. As more organizations begin to pursue Triple Bottom Line growth, expect their purchasing units to lead the way.”
2018 was perhaps the most exciting year in Source One’s history. This publication brings it to a close with a reminder that the conversations around Supply Management’s future are just beginning.
Source One looks ahead to another year of helping clients elevate the Procurement function. In April, they’ll host industry leaders at the ExecIn Forum and throughout the year they’ll publish more thought leadership, refine their service offering, and unveil the latest iteration of their eSourcing platform.
